Important Definitions

Yoga : Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that seeks to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.

Asana : It refers to the physical postures or positions practiced to prepare the body for meditation, enhance physical health, and achieve mental and spiritual balance.

Pranayama : It refers to the regulation or control of the breath, which is considered the carrier of prana within the body.

Dhyana : Dhyana refers to the practice of sustained, focused meditation that leads to a deep state of inner silence and awareness.

Nadis : Nadis are the channels through which prana flows within the body. While there are said to be 72,000 nadis in the human body, three primary nadis are most significant in yogic practices: 
1. Ida Nadi 
2. Pingala Nadi
3. Susumna Nadi

Yoga Sutra : It is a foundational text in the practice and philosophy of yoga written by Maharshi Patanjali. it consist of 196 Sutras (aphorisms).

First Sutra :  "अथ योगानुशासनम् "
This aphorism signifies the commencement of the text that teaches the philosophy of Yoga.

Second Sutra : "योगश्चित्त्वृत्तिनिरोधः"
This sutra Signifies that : Yoga means to control the functioning of the mind. It refers to the restriction of the fluctuations of mind’s consciousness.

Sapt Chakra Sadhana : It refers to the practice and meditation on the seven primary energy centers, or chakras, within the human body.

Hatha Yoga Pradipika : It is considered the foundational text of hatha yoga. It was written by Swatmarama, a sage from the Nath lineage of yogis.The text is a guide to the physical postures (asanas), cleansing techniques (shatkarma), and breathing exercises (pranayama). There are 15 asanas described in the text.

Suryanamaskara : It is a series of twelve yoga postures (asanas) that are performed in a sequence to create a dynamic and graceful flow.

Nadi Shodhana Pranayama : It is a powerful yogic breathing technique aimed at purifying the nadis (energy channels) and balancing the prana (life force) within the body. "Nadi" means "channel" or "flow," and "Shodhana" means "purification."
