Important Definitions 

Constitution : A Constitution is the set of fundamental principles, rules and law that constitute the legal basis of a organisation or country  and determine how that entity is to be governed.


Constitutional antecedents  : Constitutional antecedents refer to the historical, cultural, and political influences, ideas, and sources that precede and contribute to the development of a constitution.


Preamble : A preamble is an introductory statement that presents the intention of its framers, the history behind its creation, and the core values and principles of the nation.

Fundamental Rights : Fundamental Rights in the Indian Constitution are a set of rights that are guaranteed to every citizen of India. They are enshrined in Part III from Article 12-35 of the Constitution and are considered to be the cornerstone of democracy and human rights in India.

Obligations of State :  Obligations of State refer to the responsibilities that the government is expected to fulfill towards its citizens. These responsibilities are outlined in the Constitution and aim to ensure the welfare and well-being of the people.

DPSP : The Directive principles of State Policy DPSP are a set of guidelines enshrined in Part IV of the Indian Constitution (Article 36 to Article 51). They provide a blueprint for the government's actions in shaping the social, economic, and political landscape of the country.

Fundamental duties : Fundamental duties refer to a set of moral obligations which every citizen is expected to fulfill in order to contribute to the overall welfare and development of the society.

Legislature : The legislature is the law-making body of the government, consisting of the Lok Sabha (lower house) and the Rajya Sabha (upper house) at the central level, and the Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad at the state level.

Executive : The executive branch in India consists of the President, the Council of Ministers, and the civil services. It is responsible for the implementation of laws made by legislature and day-to-day governance of the country. 

Judiciary : The Judiciary is a organ of constitutional governance in India which serves as the guardian and interpreter of the Constitution. It upholds the rule of law, protects the rights and freedoms of citizens, and ensures justice for all. 

Decentralization : Decentralization refers to the transfer of power, authority, and decision-making from a central government to lower levels of administration, such as states, and local governments.
